Anthony Kim shared something more important than any golf score. On February 19, 2026, the 39-year-old golfer stated that he had been sober for three years. He posted an honest and emotional message on X.
Many people in the golf world stopped to read it because what he wrote was more powerful than winning a tournament.
“3 years sober 2day Never give up. Life may knock u down, but GOD will help u get back up, but u need 2 put in the work,” Kim posted.
There were no fancy words. No public relations message. It was just a man sharing his truth for everyone to see.

Fans and other golfers quickly replied to his post. It became a much bigger and more special moment than he probably expected.
One reply really stood out. A fan replied that he has been sober for 11 years. He said he celebrated by watching highlights of Kim’s final round.
He wrote, “You are a legend, AK. Keep writing your legacy. And one day at a time. Meet you here next year for your 4-year sober post, bro.”
It was more than just a comment. It showed how Kim’s story reaches beyond golf and inspires people who see their own struggles in his journey.
Kim has quietly done the hard work, staying away from the cameras that once followed him everywhere on Tour.
Before he stepped away, Kim was one of the most exciting players on the PGA Tour. He won three tournaments between 2008 and 2010, including the AT&T National and the Wachovia Championship. Later, injuries began to hurt his career and made it hard for him to keep playing at the same level.
His performance at the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla is still remembered today. Kim won four of his five matches and played with great confidence against some of Europe’s best players. That week showed he could perform under pressure and made him one of the best clutch players of his time.
A ruptured Achilles tendon in 2012 basically ended that part of his career. He was only 26 years old. Kim has stayed connected to golf through his partnership with Malbon Golf, which he tagged in his February 19 post.
