Veteran pitcher Justin Verlander is far from retiring as he’s ready to take the mound again. Verlander is the oldest pitcher right now, followed by Max Scherzer. At age 42 (to be 43 soon), Verlander is not ready to give up.
The nine-time All-Star said he’s ready to go last year, and the San Francisco Giants signed him to a one-year deal. The Giants believed in Verlander, but he finished with a nasty 4-11 record and a 3.85 ERA. It’s been a tough year for the veteran, but he still wants more.
It’s rather unlikely that the San Francisco Giants will consider Justin Verlander for another year. In truth, only a handful of teams would want to bet their money on a pitcher who once dominated the American League.

Verlander’s stint with the Houston Astros was incredible, and he hopes to get back to his former self. However, is age playing a factor in his decline? Time will only tell. For now, Justin Verlander is left with only a few options, and the Giants are keeping quiet.
The Baltimore Orioles are probably done with their offseason additions. Their biggest contract was bringing in Pete Alonso. The franchise made a couple of low-profile transactions with multiple minor league free-agent signings.
The O’s need more than that to stay competitive in the AL East, and Justin Verlander might be a perfect player to guide their starting rotation. The recent rumors suggest that the O’s have some interest in bringing in Verlander.
While they are not aggressively pursuing the pitcher, they seem to be keeping him as an option. As for Justin Verlander, he would jump at the opportunity that comes his way. Verlander might just get to pitch for one last tim,e and no team will give him a contract for more than a year.
