'That’s Malfeasance To Your Fan Base' – MLB Analyst Goes On A Non-Stop Rant After Giancarlo Stanton’s Comment

2025 was another injury-marred year for Giancarlo Stanton after spending the first two months on the sidelines. He was excellent for the New York Yankees upon his return from the IL, but struggled in the postseason. Stanton recently admitted that he cannot open a bag of chips due to pain from the elbow issue he has been suffering from for the past few years.

Responding to the comments, sports radio host Craig Carton of WFAN 660 launched a ferocious tirade at Giancarlo Stanton. He accused the veteran slugger of malfeasance for not having surgery in the offseason that would have made him fully healthy for the playoffs. Stanton owes it to the New York Yankees ownership and fanbase to do his utmost to be available for the team.

“Why did we not operate on both the elbows?” Carton asked. “And if we acknowledge that he’s going to miss 40-50-60 games anyway, because that’s what he typically does, then I don’t need him in April and May. Have the surgery in October last year, and be ready to go in June. That’s malfeasance to your fanbase.

“He’s not all good. He’s not going to be awesome. And I don’t understand why that’s acceptable to the New York Yankees. The Yankees pay him a lot of effing money,” he added.

The Yankees owe Giancarlo Stanton $54 million over the two years remaining on his contract. They have a $25 million team option on the 36-year-old for the 2028 season.

Craig Carton Says Giancarlo Stanton & Yankees Made Wrong Decision

The New York Yankees were not entirely sure that surgery would help Giancarlo Stanton recover from the tennis elbow he is suffering in both his arms. Stanton reportedly was against the operation as well. Chris Carton believes that was an error in judgment from both the team and the player.

“He’s not any better today. So, not having surgery didn’t help either,” Carton said. “If you can’t open up a bag of chips seven months after your last at-bat, then you should’ve had the freaking surgery. And I’m bothered by it, because we deserve you being at your best.”

Over the past four years, Giancarlo Stanton has not featured in more than 140 games a season. He played just 78 times in the regular season last year. Nevertheless, he finished on a .273/.350/.594 slash line with 24 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a 158 OPS+.
