This is the possible Achilles heel for the 2026 Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are looking for some young players to take the next step during the 2026 season. The team has a lot of inexperience on the roster, but that can have positives and negatives. With a young team, their lineup can have some holes, but there is hope that things do not turn for the worse in that department. Let’s take a look at one of the possible Achilles heel for the 2026 White Sox lineup.

The Chicago White Sox have to figure out how to hit more consistently

Karl Rasmussen of Sports Illustrated wrote an article discussing what would be the potential Achilles heel for each of the 30 MLB teams. For the White Sox, he would mention how their offense was struggling last season, and that could return. Below is what he wrote regarding the White Sox:

“The White Sox ranked 28th in MLB in OPS last season. Their lineup didn’t improve all too much during the offseason, either. They signed Munetaka Murakami to a two-year deal and added Austin Hays, too, but ultimately, the 2026 team will likely be plagued by the same offensive inefficiencies they’ve dealt with in recent years.”

During the 2025 season, the team posted an 88 OPS+, meaning they were 12 percent worse than the league average last season. Even with the additions of Murakami and Hays, the lineup has some upside, but things can go bad as well. There is a possibility that after the Luis Robert Jr trade, Chicago’s lineup took a dip in its potential. The lineup is already going to be without catcher Kyle Teel to begin the year, so injuries can also be an issue for the lineup’s production. It will be intriguing to see if the White Sox can figure out how to be consistent on the offensive side of things this season.
