The MLB Winter Meetings ended on Wednesday with some big moves being made.

The New York Yankees, however, did not make any noise, at least not yet. At the Winter Meetings, Cashman spoke on the Yankees' current roster, saying they "are covered in most all areas that you need to be covered."

The Yankees lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in four games in the ALDS, and the Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Blue Jays have already made additions this offseason.

On Thursday, ESPN insider Jeff Passan mentioned that the Yankees have "listened on" infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., so there could be some activity on that front.

On the same day that Passan dropped that intel, Yankees GM Brian Cashman made his feelings clear on a Chisholm trade, via Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“He’s somebody who I think is currently part of the solution, someone that's made us better by getting him two deadlines ago and giving us athleticism," Cashman said. "He's above-average. He’s an All-Star second baseman, great defense, steals bags, power — all that stuff. He’s been a good get."

Cashman didn't entirely rule it out, but he did hint at his feelings for Chisholm.

"We will be open-minded," he added. "But again, my default is these are all individually good players. We acquired them for a reason.”

The Yankees acquired him in a trade with the Miami Marlins at the 2024 deadline, sending prospects Agustin Ramírez, Jared Serna and Abrahan Ramírez to Miami.

In 2024, Chisholm hit .273 with 11 home runs and 23 RBIs in 46 regular-season games.

In 2025, Chisholm played a career-high 130 games in the regular season, batting .242 with 31 home runs, 80 RBIs and 31 stolen bases.

While the Yankees have reportedly listened to a Chisholm trade, it might be difficult for Cashman to move on from him this early.
