Despite all the weight-class titles, the BMF title remains purely iconic. And Max Holloway is defending his BMF belt against Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. However, Conor McGregor doesn’t think that the Holloway vs. Oliveira fight is a BMF fight. He also says the title should be contested at 170 lbs.
The BMF title was first introduced at welterweight. The first title fight was between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz, in which Masvidal won and became the first BMF champion. However, ‘Gamebred’ retired, and the title was later introduced to lightweight. Ranting about the title should be back at welterweight. ‘The Notorious’ talked about it on Smash Cast Media, and McGregor said:
“Why go down to 155 and drain ourselves and then title it ‘BMF’. The BMF title was founded by Nate Diaz at 170 pounds.”
