Nuggets guard Jamal Murray to give it his all in first All-Star Game

In the midst of his ninth NBA season and already established as a hero in Denver, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has finally earned some overdue recognition. On Sunday, Murray learned that he's made his first All-Star team.

Named as one of the reserves, Murray, 28, is averaging 25.5 points per game with 4.4 rebounds and 7.5 assists. He will now remember the 2025-26 season as the campaign that led him to his first All-Star Weekend.

In an effort to truly appreciate the experience and not take anything for granted, Murray is vowing to give it his all.

Murray is going to play hard

"I'm down to play one-on-one, I don't care, I'm just a competitor," Murray said to reporters when asked about his view on the event and the past criticism of players not trying hard enough, via ESPN.

"So, I want to be known as one of those guys who's going to play hard every time he steps on the court."

Nikola Jokic will finally have a teammate join him at All-Star Weekend

Murray's All-Star nod also gives the Nuggets two All-Star players in the same season for the first time since Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups in 2010. Because of course, now eight-time All-Star Nikola Jokic will be there with him.

Murray even talked about having a bond with a legendary player like Jokic.

"It's fun to have that type of relationship with the best player in the world," Murray said.

So even through Murray, who has been enjoying a bit of an uptick in his numbers this season - he's averaged 18.5 points per game collectively throughout his career, could argue he should've made the All-Star team in the past, he's crossed that off his list and will get to add "NBA All-Star" to his resume, one that's highlighted by being a first-round pick and then a key part of the Nuggets' 2023 championship.
