Paul George’s tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers hasn’t been quite a merry one. However, despite all the ups and downs, things were starting to get better. Until it didn’t. As George’s shocking suspension hit the 76ers like a tracer bullet, rumors surfaced about how bad a signing he was for the team.
Together with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the nine-time NBA All-Star was gaining some momentum. Establishing himself as a quality facilitator, George also chipped in with his offense, bringing his 6’8” frame into play. The 35-year-old even clapped back at his doubters while delivering some promising performances.
But back in January, Shams Charania reported that due to an anti-drug policy violation, the 76ers star would be suspended for 25 games. This news means the 2013 Most Improved Player will be unavailable once again. And that is certainly something that the front office would not like.

Philadelphia offered George the max salary. Back in 2024, the 76ers offered him a massive $212 million, four-year deal. But despite all the support, the 2013 NBA Most Improved Player missed 41 games last season due to injury. This season, too, he has already missed 37 games. Although the 76ers star took full responsibility for his actions, fans are not at all pleased with what went down.
With each passing day, the fans’ frustrations have grown, and they’ve shared some pretty strong words for George.
“Not just sixers history, one of the worst signings ever,” said a fan.

“What other options were there for the Sixers to sign someone short term but maintain cap flexibility?” argued another.
