The 76ers will be without Joel Embiid for at least the next three games.
The team announced that Embiid underwent an MRI on Saturday morning that revealed a strained right oblique. He will miss Sunday’s road game at Boston, followed by home matchups against San Antonio on Tuesday and Utah on Wednesday.
He will be reevaluated after the back-to-back.
Embiid experienced midsection discomfort during Thursday’s win over Miami. He briefly went to the locker room after being inadvertently struck by Kel’el Ware but returned and hit a key three-pointer in the final minute.
Coach Nick Nurse did not provide an update after that game, and Embiid did not speak with reporters.
The former MVP had just returned this week after missing time since February 7 with knee and shin issues. He has appeared in 33 of Philadelphia’s 59 games, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 31.2 minutes per contest.
