Thunder's Josh Giddey youngest player in NBA history with triple-double

The Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the Dallas Mavericks 95-86 on Sunday. They're the lowest-scoring team in the NBA at 99.8 points per game and are tied for the second-worst record in the Western Conference at 13-23.

Despite the struggles, OKC has a potentially bright future with the likes of youngsters Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort. However, the player with perhaps the most potential is 19-year-old rookie Josh Giddey.

The sixth pick of the 2021 NBA Draft showcased his talent by making history on Sunday night.

Giddey -- who broke Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball's record -- had missed the Thunder's last three games after being placed in the NBA's COVID protocols last week. Entering the contest against the Mavericks, the Australian was averaging 10.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 30.0 minutes per contest while posting a .388/.245/.651 shooting line.

The shooting guard secured his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 assists on Oct. 27. Giddey posted back-to-back double-doubles on Nov. 17 and Nov. 19 as a part of a stretch that helped him earn the Rookie of the Month award in November.

The Thunder will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
