Chiefs bring back steady presence at linebacker for another chance to compete

There's no denying that Cole Christiansen has earned the trust of Chiefs' coaches. Despite being a fringe roster player who has been waived and activated, promoted and demoted, time and again over the last three seasons, Christiansen has been a consistent presence on Kansas City's transaction wire. In short, the Chiefs like having the linebacker around since giving him a chance back in 2022 and they're apparently going to do so again in 2025. The Chiefs officially re-signed Christiansen on Tuesday, which means the special teamer will try his hand at making the team (or practice squad) for a fourth season. Christiansen came to the NFL as a tackling machine (275 in his career) for the Army Knights from 2016-19. From there, the Los Angeles Chargers brought him in as an undrafted free agent and he even made the active roster for a few games during his rookie campaign while spending most of his time on the team's practice squad.
