Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are mourning the loss of Marshawn Kneeland this week. The 24-year-old defensive end passed away suddenly on Thursday.

Kneeland, the 56th overall pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. His death came just three days after he scored a touchdown on "Monday Night Football" against the Arizona Cardinals.

"It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning," the team said. "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

While at Haughton High School on Thursday night, Prescott was asked about Kneeland's death. Unsurprisingly, he handled this tragic situation with as much grace as possible.

"It's been a very tough day," Prescott told CBS Sports Texas. "Tragic loss, I hurt—heavy heavy heart today. I hurt for Marshawn, I hurt for his family. I hurt for his girlfriend. I hurt for every single one of my teammates. This is a pain you don't wish upon anybody. You wish none of us had to go through this. You wish Marshawn didn't have to go through what he went through."

Police release details on Kneeland.

The Frisco Police Department revealed that Kneeland was involved in an "outside agency vehicle pursuit" prior to his death.

“A man was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound following an outside agency vehicle pursuit that led to a multi-agency search in Frisco,” the media release from the police said. “On November 5, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Frisco Police Department responded to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety, with locating a vehicle that had evaded troopers during a pursuit that entered the city of Frisco. After losing visual of the vehicle, troopers located it minutes later, crashed on southbound Dallas Parkway near Warren Parkway. Initial reporters indicated that a male subject, identified as 24-year-old Marshawn Kneeland of Plano, TX fled the scene on foot.”

Our thoughts are with Kneeland's loved ones.
