Russell Wilson’s situation with the New York Giants is far from ideal. The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback was recently advised by interim head coach Mike Kafka that he has been demoted to a QB3 role, with Jameis Winston being moved up in the pecking order ahead of him. From being the Giants’ starting quarterback to open the season, Wilson has now become the team’s third-stringer in the matter of two and a half months.

On a personal level, Wilson is keeping busy with his life away from football. This includes his Why Not You Productions, a production company he founded with his wife, R&B icon Ciara. They recently co-executive produced a movie entitled “Sarah’s Oil,” which has grabbed headlines since it premiered on Nov. 5.

Wilson joined the Giants during the offseason on a one-year, $10.5 million deal . After going 0-3 in his first three starts of the season, Wilson was benched in favor of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. However, Dart suffered a concussion in their last game and has already been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

Kafka, who was installed as interim head coach after the dismissal of Brian Daboll on Monday, decided to promote Winston as the new starting QB for the Packers game, with Wilson serving as the backup. Despite being demoted to a QB3 role, Wilson has remained optimistic about his situation in New York.

On Thursday, the 36-year-old took to social media to announce a personal matter away from football. He shared a post about “Sarah’s Oil,” which was recently featured in the renowned business and lifestyle magazine Forbes.

In his Instagram post, Wilson also added some song lyrics, which further emphasize his current mindset. “Some days are better than others,” the lyrics read.

The Forbes article Wilson shared included a couple of quotes from the Giants QB about the film. It tells the true story of Sarah Rector, who fought injustice against oil prospectors in the 1900s to become one of the first female African American millionaires.

“We're here with the Sarah's Oil sign behind us, telling a story about faith and this young Black girl who's 11 years old, who becomes one of the wealthiest young girls in America,” Wilson said during the movie’s special screening in New York City on Nov. 5, via Forbes. “It's all because she had faith, a ridiculous, unwavering faith, and that's what Ciara has, and that's what I want my daughter Sienna to have. That's why I want my daughter Amora to have.

“I know my sons to Win and Future have (and whatever the fifth one is Cinco, if he comes too!), but I just think that it's just this is a blessing to do this and be here in New York City for our premiere of Sarah's Oil. It's a great story. I can't wait for families, kids, and people to see it all over.”

“Sarah’s Oil” is currently showing in theaters across America.

As for his football, Wilson will remain on the bench behind Winston on Sunday. The Giants will host the Packers at MetLife Stadium, with kickoff for the Week 11 showdown scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
