The Miami Dolphins kicked off the season with three consecutive losses.
However, after falling to 1-6, they've now won two of their last three games, including a significant victory over the Buffalo Bills.
The Dolphins are now 3-7 and have a somewhat more manageable schedule for the remainder of the season.
That's why, when it seemed that the organization was bracing to move on from head coach Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa, that may no longer be the case.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, team owner Stephen Ross wants McDaniel to stay, but it will depend on how the players respond.
"My understanding of where it goes from here with Mike McDaniel is that owner Stephen Ross wants him to continue to be the head coach. Has supported him, has invested in him, believes in him. If at all possible for Mike McDaniel to continue, that's going to be decided by how the players respond on the field. Is this locker room still behind him?" Rapoport said.
As for the quarterback, the Dolphins would also keep Tagovailoa around if McDaniel were to stay.
"If that happens, there's a much better chance that Tua Tagovailoa, his quarterback, is the quarterback next year as well," Rapoport said.

Despite some apparent disconnect, McDaniel has always been Tua's biggest advocate. Also, the Dolphins would have to absorb a massive cap hit if they were to part ways with their quarterback.
This team has already moved on from its general manager, and clearly needs to bolster its defense and offensive line.
But as bad as the Dolphins record is, three of their losses have been by one score, and they still have a chance to make the playoffs.
