Have Raiders, Maxx Crosby agreed on 'proper course of action' amid trade rumors?

A recent report indicated that the relationship involving the Las Vegas Raiders and pass-rusher Maxx Crosby is not "completely irreparable" after Crosby became upset about being shut down before the 2025 season ended due to a knee injury.

During a Monday appearance on NFL Network, league insider Tom Pelissero shared that the Raiders "have made some efforts to have talks with Crosby" this winter. According to Doric Sam of Bleacher Report, Pelissero also suggested that interested teams will look to speak with the Raiders about a possible trade for Crosby during this week's NFL Scouting Combine.

Raiders, Maxx Crosby leaving options open for how this saga will end?

"There are fences to be mended here, and everybody has to decide what the proper course of action is moving forward," Pelissero added about the Raiders and Crosby. "...It is no secret that Crosby has been frustrated by the constant turnover and change in Las Vegas. He also was frustrated by the way last season ended when the Raiders shut him down with two games to go."

A 2019 fourth-round draft pick, Crosby had more head coaches (five) than playoff appearances (one) before the Raiders officially hired new head coach Klint Kubiak earlier in February. Crosby is expected to become a hot commodity if he makes it known he wants to receive a fresh start this spring, but the fact that he signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason does give the Raiders some power regarding how this saga may end. According to multiple reports, Las Vegas could want two first-round draft picks and a starting player in return for Crosby.

What teams could speak with Raiders about Maxx Crosby this week?

"Any team that is a contender with a pass-rush need and cap space, or the ability to create it, I would anticipate would be involved if the Raiders decide they are willing to trade Crosby," Pelissero explained.

History has shown that teams can just about always create needed space to acquire a talent such as Crosby in "the salary cap isn't real" world of the NFL. That said, it's unclear if even one team will match the Raiders' reported asking price for Crosby before the 2026 draft gets underway on April 23.
