Lamar Jackson Predicted to Pair with All-Pro WR in NFL Free Agency

The Baltimore Ravens made the surprising decision to part ways with long-time head coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons. They replaced him with Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

One advantage Minter has is the presence of an elite quarterback, Lamar Jackson, who is a two-time NFL MVP. He has passed for 22,608 yards, thrown 187 touchdown passes, and recorded 56 interceptions. In addition, he has rushed for 6,522 yards and scored 35 touchdowns.

One of the ongoing concerns for the Ravens has been their receiving corps. Last year, Zay Flowers had an impressive performance, finishing with 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns. However, the next highest receiver was tight end Mark Andrews, who recorded only 48 catches for 422 yards and also had five touchdowns.

That's why Yahoo Sports' Matt Johnson is predicting the team will sign former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs in NFL free agency.

"The off-field concerns surrounding Stefon Diggs likely have a lot to do with how quiet his market is in NFL free agency," Johnson wrote. "With that said, he still put up 1,013 receiving yards on 85 receptions last season in his first full season back from an ACL tear. This would be a bit of a gamble for first-year head coach Jesse Minter, but the Baltimore Ravens have proven they are willing to take some non-medical risks. Diggs could be a complementary receiving threat to pair with Zay Flowers, providing Lamar Jackson with a better receiving corps in his first year with new play-caller Declan Doyle."

In 2025, Diggs had a strong comeback season with the New England Patriots, recording 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. This performance followed a challenging year in 2024, during which he played just eight games with the Houston Texans and achieved 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns.

Diggs is facing some off-field challenges, and in addition to that, his salary cap charge was scheduled to rise significantly from $10.5 million to $26.5 million. This substantial increase was the primary reason the Patriots decided to release the talented receiver. If he had remained on the roster by the end of this week, an extra $6 million of his contract would have been guaranteed.

If Diggs can address some of his off-field issues, he could give Jackson additional depth at wide receiver, aiding the Ravens in their quest to become Super Bowl champions once again.
