During the latest edition of the "Let's Go!" SiriusXM show and podcast, Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders said a lot of things about the trade rumors that have linked the star pass-rusher with other teams.
One thing Crosby didn't do was confirm or deny that he has told Raiders minority owner Tom Brady that "he will never play for" Las Vegas again.
During a recent NBC Sports Boston appearance, NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated offered an update on Crosby's mindset after the 28-year-old was left unhappy over being shut down by the Raiders for the remainder of the season in late December because of a knee injury.
"There's a lot of fence-mending that's going to need to happen if the Raiders are going to hang onto Maxx Crosby," Breer explained, per Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports. "It goes all the way to the top of the organization with Tom Brady and Alex Guerrero. The way the communication happened with the injury in December left a mark. This is a guy who's incredibly loyal to the Raiders organization, wanted to spend his entire career there, and is loyal to (Raiders principal owner) Mark Davis as well. Now, he feels betrayed."
A previous report detailed how Guerrero, a wellness coordinator and a longtime Brady confidante, was involved in the decision to prematurely end Crosby's 2025 campaign. Meanwhile, Davis and recently hired head coach Klint Kubiak made it known this week that they want Crosby "to be a part of our success going forward."
Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason, so the Raiders do have some leverage as it pertains to his playing future.
During a Thursday appearance on NFL Network, league insider Ian Rapoport revealed that Crosby's recovery from the meniscus repair he needed will be "measured in months, not weeks." Rapoport added that "it's hard to imagine a team trading for" Crosby before he can pass a physical, which may not happen until right before the 2026 NFL Draft or this coming summer.
In short, it sounds like the Crosby-Raiders saga isn't nearing a conclusion.
