New York Jets Set to Acquire Massive 366-Pound Game-Wrecker
Texas Longhorns defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat (93) walks into the stadium with his teammates ahead of the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff semi-finals at the Ceasars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, Jan. 1, 2024.

The New York Jets desperately needed to land a game-wrecking defensive tackle, capable of stopping the run, clogging the middle, withstanding double-teams, and rushing the passer, especially with Quinnen Williams no longer on the team. Harrison Phillips is a stout run defender but is not a consistent pass-rusher, with only 8.5 career sacks, including a half-sack in 2025. Phillips is 30 years old, has a non-guaranteed $7.5 million cap hit, and may be moved this offseason.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Tennessee Titans have agreed to send T’Vondre Sweat to the New York Jets for Jermaine Johnson II, with the deal being finalized at the start of the new league year. As a result, the Jets will inherit the final two years of his contract, essentially a two-year, $3.76 million deal with $2.13 million guaranteed. Sweat is scheduled to earn a fully guaranteed $1.66 salary in 2026 and a $2.1 million base salary with $470,000 guaranteed in 2027.
