NFL teams reportedly have trade price in mind for Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux

The New York Giants held onto Kayvon Thibodeaux through this past fall's trade deadline even though the club also has fellow pass-rushers Abdul Carter and Brian Burns on the roster.

That said, Thibodeaux is heading into a contract year and, thus, is once again the subject of some trade rumors. For a piece published on Friday, Giants reporter Jordan Raanan of ESPN suggested that would-be buyers revealed a potential price for Thibodeaux's services during the ongoing NFL scouting combine.

What could Kayvon Thibodeaux be worth to the Giants in a trade?

"Multiple sources told ESPN they'd expect Thibodeaux to fetch a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick," Raanan shared. "Otherwise, perhaps a player-for-player deal -- like the New York Jets did this week for edge rusher Jermaine Johnson with the Tennessee Titans -- could be an option."

The Giants signed Burns to a five-year, $141M contract in March 2024, and ESPN stats show that he ended the 2025 regular season ranked second in the league with 16.5 sacks. While Carter undeniably went through a rocky rookie season, there's no indication the Giants will give up on the third overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft anytime soon.

As for Thibodeaux, he has mostly been a disappointment since the Giants made him the fifth overall choice of the 2022 draft. Over the past two campaigns, he tallied a total of eight sacks and was limited to just 22 games because of injury setbacks.

According to Raanan, trading Thibodeaux would open nearly $15M in salary-cap space for the Giants.

Joe Schoen may have given a hint of his Kayvon Thibodeaux plans

"Right now, Kayvon's going to be with us," Giants general manager Joe Schoen said at the combine. "He played well. He is going into his fifth year, and he's motivated, and you can't have enough pass-rushers. You really can't. So I'm proud of the development and the maturation of Kayvon, and he's come a long way. And I expect big things out of him next year with that rotation."

History shows the "right now" portion of Schoen's comments may have been doing some heavy lifting as it pertains to Thibodeaux's future. Then again, Giants head coach and true head of football operations John Harbaugh may ultimately decide that he'd rather work with Thibodeaux than trade the 25-year-old at a discounted price.
