Raiders interested in another Seahawks coach for Klint Kubiak's staff

The Las Vegas Raiders continue to make moves to kick off the Klint Kubiak era.

Landing one of the hottest commodities in the head-coaching hiring cycle was just the first step, and they now have to fill his coaching staff. Considering that, they will try to replicate what the Seattle Seahawks just did in the simplest way: stealing some of their sharpest minds.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, they'll interview safeties coach Jeff Howard for their defensive coordinator position.

Raiders interested in Seahawks' Jeff Howard as their new defensive coordinator

“The Raiders will interview Seahawks safeties coach Jeff Howard on Saturday for their defensive coordinator job, per sources. Howard worked with new Raiders coach Klint Kubiak in Minnesota and Seattle, where he has been a valued assistant with the Super Bowl champs,” Pelissero wrote on X.

Howard did an outstanding job with rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, the Seahawks' defensive X-factor and one of the most electrifying players in the league. Coby Bryant and Julian Love also played pivotal roles on the Seahawks' Super Bowl-winning defense.

He's not the only Seahawks coach drawing interest in Sin City. The Raiders also reached out to wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson about the offensive coordinator gig, and the Seahawks blocked the Raiders' request to interview run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach Justin Outten for Las Vegas’ run game coordinator role.

The Raiders still need to figure out what to do with Maxx Crosby amid all the trade speculation. In the meantime, they'll have to find the right people to surround their 38-year-old head coach in his first experience as the main guy.
