Ravens' Lamar Jackson has a favorite candidate to run his offense

The Baltimore Ravens made a bold call when they parted ways with head coach John Harbaugh.

While Harbaugh, Lamar Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Monken all denied the rumors of a rift between the head coach and the quarterback, team owner Steve Bisciotti said that Jackson would have a significant input in the hiring process.

The Ravens have arguably the most appealing head-coaching vacancy in the NFL right now, but they haven't brought in many candidates yet. Perhaps that's because they've already found their guy. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Jackson wants Kliff Kingsbury to run his offense.

Lamar Jackson wants Ravens to hire Kliff Kingsbury

"I know for a fact that Lamar Jackson and those receivers would like Kliff Kingsbury to run their offense," Russini said on "The Herd." "They've shown support, they've been vocal about it. They've been part of some of these interviews, too. Lamar Jackson's part of these. He's zooming in, he's in touch with the decision makers of what he likes, who he's liked."

Kingsbury has interviewed for both the head-coaching and offensive coordinator positions. And even if the Ravens don't make him the head coach, he could probably still join the team as an assistant coach.

"Anthony Weaver is gonna be in the running for this job, and from what I understand, Kliff Kingsbury would be his OC," Russini added.

Kingsbury has plenty of experience with mobile quarterbacks. He's coached Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams in college, and Kyler Murray and Jayden Daniels in the pros. Jackson is perhaps the most talented dual-threat quarterback of all time, and having a creative and sharp offensive mind calling plays for him should be a scary thought for the rest of the league.
