Reported 'true trade value' for Eagles WR A.J. Brown revealed

A recent report shared that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman may be "seeking a return that includes both a first- and second-round draft pick" in return for mercurial wide receiver A.J. Brown.

It sounds like interested teams weren't in a hurry to match that price during the NFL Scouting Combine.

"Multiple league executives" think Eagles will ultimately make this A.J. Brown decision

"A few teams I consulted believe a trade package including a second-round pick is his true trade value," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported about Brown on Sunday. "Would that be enough to lure him from Philadelphia? I'm not sure that gets it done for Eagles GM Howie Roseman. But the buzz around Brown isn't dissipating. Multiple league executives have maintained that Philly will entertain moving him."

Fowler added that the New England Patriots feel "like a logical destination" for Brown. Numerous stories previously linked Brown with a Patriots side that has a need at the position and Mike Vrabel, Brown's head coach from the 2019 draft up until the Tennessee Titans traded the wideout to the Eagles in April 2022, as its current head coach.

Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer noted that Roseman's final decision on Brown could be made "ahead of the official start of the 'legal tampering'" portion of free agency, which gets underway March 9. For Sunday's piece, ESPN's Dan Graziano indicated that Roseman won't accept anything less than what he wants for Brown anytime soon.

Why A.J. Brown stayed with Eagles through first day of March

"Teams have contacted the Eagles about a potential Brown trade, but word is that Philly's asking price remains too high," Graziano said. "This lines up with what I heard about the Eagles' stance: They'd be open to the right offer, but it would have to be a really good one. They don't want to just get rid of Brown or need him off the team for any chemistry reasons. The Eagles will always listen to trade offers, but if they're going to move Brown, it sounds like they'd have to be blown away. If you're not ready to talk about at least your first-round pick, I don't think that conversation is getting very far at the moment."

Brown signed a three-year, $96M contract extension with $84M in guaranteed money in April 2024, and the often-outspoken 28-year-old hasn't publicly demanded to be traded this offseason. The 2026 draft begins on April 23, so clubs still have plenty of time to speak with the Eagles about Brown's availability before this year's picks can no longer be traded.
