The Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL is gearing up for the free agency window to officially begin on Wednesday, but the legal tampering window officially began on Monday at noon.

Players started flying off the board as sides are allowed to verbally agree to deals, but these deals will not be made official until the new league year begins. One of the first moves that was made involved wide receiver Alec Pierce. He was set to be a free agent, but the wide receiver was able to strike a deal to go back to the Indianapolis Colts.

Pierce signing back with the Colts was not something that was expected. Many thought he would leave in free agency, but he is back in Indianapolis. This made veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. available, and the Steelers acquired him via trade on Monday.

The exact specifics of the trade have not yet been reported, but it seems like the exchange included a late-round pick swap. The wide receiver posted 80 catches for 784 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025 and has twice surpassed 1,000 yards receiving (2021, 2023). Pittman brings in a ton of experience to Pittsburgh, and he is another great weapon to have in Pittsburgh for the Steelers offense.
