Two-time Pro Bowl Trevon Diggs quickly lands with new team

Trevon Diggs already has a new home.

Diggs has been claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and other reports. The move comes a day after Diggs was waived by the Dallas Cowboys.

Diggs had missed a month this season as he recovered from a concussion suffered in a home incident. Although his health improved, the Cowboys never activated him and put him back on their roster. Diggs’ relationship with the Cowboys was said to have soured this season, leading to the NFC East team to cut him.

Diggs ending up being claimed by the Packers is not too surprising. The NFC North squad seems to love Cowboys defensive players, as they were the ones who ponied up to get Diggs' former teammate, Micah Parsons, in a trade before the season began.

The Packers are hoping that Diggs can still be an effective player. Diggs shined during the 2021 season when he intercepted 11 passes and was named first-team All-Pro. He has only played in 19 games over the last three seasons, largely due to knee injuries. He had 25 tackles in eight games for the Cowboys this year.

The Cowboys signed Diggs to a five-year, $97 million contract extension in 2023.
