Oilers Working on Acquiring Jason Dickinson From the Blackhawks

Two days after connecting on a deal that sent Connor Murphy to Edmonton for a second-round pick in 2028, the Oilers and Blackhawks appear to be nearing another trade.

Reports suggest that Chicago and Edmonton are discussing a deal that would send veteran center Jason Dickinson to the Blackhawks.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman was first to share the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night.

“Edmonton and Chicago are discussing another move. This one would send Jason Dickinson to the Oilers. We will see how it turns out,”

Fellow insider Frank Seravalli has since reported that Andrew Mangiapane will be a part of the return going back to the Blackhawks. A no-movement clause still stands in the way, but it’s looking like Dickinson and another piece to Edmonton in exchange for Mangiapane and a conditional draft pick.

The 30-year-old Dickinson is a pending UFA in the second and final year of the two-year, $8.5 million extension signed with the Blackhawks in 2024. He’s tallied 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 47 games played this season, though is not far removed from a career-best 35-point (22 goals, 13 assists) 2023-24 campaign.

More to come as we wait for confirmation and details on a potential return.
