Happy 45th birthday to 19-year NHL veteran, five-time All-Star and 2010-11 Jennings Trophy winner, Roberto Luongo!
Luongo began his NHL career by making history as the highest-drafted goaltender ever when the New York Islanders used their fourth-overall pick on him in the 1997 NHL Draft. He didn’t make his first NHL appearance until 1999-2000 before being traded to the Florida Panthers. He’d spend the rest of his career with the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks. While he never won a Stanley Cup, he did lead the entire NHL in saves in two seasons, wins in 2010-11 and helped the Canucks to just their second-ever Stanley Cup Finals appearance in that same season.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the goaltenders to lead the entire NHL in saves for each season since 1994-95 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
