The Championship is one of the most competitive divisions in the world with the ultimate prize waiting for the three sides who get promoted from it: the Premier League.
For its 24 sides, the English second tier can be seen to be the final step before the Premier League, a necessary next step, or an opportunity to bounce back after relegation from the top flight of English football.
However, whilst the league can offer great success for some sides, others struggle, putting them at risk of relegation to League One: the third tier of English football.
West Bromwich Albion are one of the sides that are currently in this struggle, with Albion 21st in the league and just one point above the drop zone.
The club recently announced the appointment of former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay as manager as they aim to pick up crucial points in the aim of survival.
However, since Ramsay’s arrival at the club, West Brom have picked up just three points in seven league games whilst also being knocked out of the FA Cup.
Now, TalkSport have revealed that the club are considering firing Eric Ramsay following his poor start to life at the Hawthorns.
Commenting about his side’s defeat against league leaders Coventry City, Ramsay stated: “I was extremely disappointed with the manner of the goals and coming away with nothing, which in our situation is certainly far from ideal, not what we would have wanted in any way.
“It felt like we started the game in the first five minutes, very positively aggressive connection with the crowd, real energy, and we’ve really let ourselves down on five or six minutes.
“Unfortunately, another follows that relatively quickly and we give ourselves a mountain to climb from that point.”
With the news of doubt now casted upon Ramsay and with Ramsay disappointed with his side’s performance, supporters will now look towards a clash with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening.
