Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke was unfortunate to miss the first half of the season after suffering an ankle injury during pre-season. The England international was initially ruled out for a few weeks, with Thomas Frank hopeful of seeing him return before the first international break. However, repeated setbacks in his recovery meant that the 28-year-old was forced to remain on the sidelines until the turn of the year.
It is fair to say that Solanke has excelled since returning to first-team action earlier last month. He has settled into a prominent role in the final third and emerged as one of the standout players for Thomas Frank during the latter stages of the Danish tactician’s tenure at N17. The England international has offered a different dynamic in attack and has comfortably replaced both Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani in the starting eleven.
Since his return from injury, Solanke has scored four goals in his last eight matches across all competitions. He has shown strong movement to get into goal-scoring positions and has injected much-needed energy into the final third. His most impressive display of the season came earlier this month when Spurs hosted Manchester City, with the England international netting a brace to secure an unlikely 2-2 draw.
Tottenham fans will be hoping that Dominic Solanke can continue his goal-scoring form under Igor Tudor in the coming months. The Lilywhites are staring at the possibility of a relegation battle in the Premier League as they look to rediscover winning form. Therefore, it is crucial that Tudor brings the best out of his players, including his key attacker Solanke.
Michael Lahoud has echoed those sentiments, expressing his desire to see the 28-year-old play a pivotal role in the starting eleven under the Croatian tactician. Speaking on CBS Sports (via X), Lahoud said,
“Tudor needs to unlock Dominic Solanke. Tottenham, right now, need someone to score goals. And the Solanke that we saw against Man City, that is the player that Spurs fans want to see more often. And he should not be injured.”

Lahoud believes Igor Tudor must ‘unlock’ Dominic Solanke in the coming months. The Lilywhites are in desperate need of a player who can consistently find dangerous goal-scoring positions and finish chances with confidence. Solanke appears to be the solution to that problem, given his current form and ability to make an immediate impact. His performance against Manchester City was one for the highlight reels, and the Spurs faithful will be hoping to see more of the same as the season enters its decisive phase.
Solanke also played a crucial role in helping the Lilywhites win the Europa League last season. He scored six goals during the knockout stages of the competition, establishing himself as one of Spurs’ standout performers as they ended their long-standing trophy drought. There is no doubt that the England international has the talent and temperament to deliver when the stakes are high. Igor Tudor simply needs to play him to his strengths and help him maintain confidence.
Will the 28-year-old continue his goal-scoring run? Only time will tell. However, an added incentive could be the opportunity to earn a place in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad in the summer.
