Inter Milan center-back Alessandro Bastoni has come under heavy scrutiny after Saturday’s ill-tempered Derby d’Italia clash against Juventus.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri have stood up for the Italian star, who has received death threats on social media.
Unpleasant scenes during the latest edition of the iconic Derby d’Italia saw players and officials from both clubs clash in the tunnel.
Indeed, a first-half controversy intensified at halftime, with Luciano Spalletti and Giorgio Chiellini conflicting with the referee.
Referee Federico La Penna wrongly sent off Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu at the tail-end of the first half.
However, it was Alessandro Bastoni who convinced the 42-year-old to give the Frenchman marching orders.
The 26-year-old went down under Kalulu’s soft challenge, prompting La Penna to show the ex-AC Milan ace a second yellow card.
Meanwhile, Inter would go on to win the derby and cement their position at the top of the Serie A table.
As for Bastoni, he has found himself at the center of a media storm.
