Wrexham is experiencing an important moment in its history. They currently sit in seventh place in the EFL Championship with 48 points after 32 matches.

Additionally, they have qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup, where they will face Chelsea, after defeating teams like Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town.

This all has to do with the major investments made by their owners. Although this does not please everyone.

Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds Criticized Over Financial Disparity By Ex-Crystal Palace Chairman

In statements to talkSPORT, former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan addressed the issue of the disproportionate value that Wrexham has now achieved.

"It's not really a Hollywood story, isn't it?" Jordan began saying. "Because they've sold a lot of their shareholding to Apex."

"I still think it's ridiculous that Wrexham have got this huge valuation of about 500 million quid, got cash injections from major financiers and have got an 18 million pounds grant from the Welsh Council to build a stadium. That doesn't seem right, does it?" Jordan said.

The former Crystal Palace chairman recounted that he visited Wrexham a few years ago and was told they were on the brink of extinction. Something far removed from their current reality.

"I went early two or three years ago when they told me it was existential if we didn't get promoted for a million quid. What, how much are you guys worth? You guys are worth 500 million. You're going to come out of that little pantry. It's not existential. You just might have to put your hands in your pockets."

"So you opened up a line of scenarios, which was me saying, well, when it gets hot in the kitchen, we've got to write some proper checks to see if you're there," Jordan added. "But they haven't got to write out proper checks. People are valuing Wrexham at 500 million quid. That's a valuation."

"I'll step in Bournemouth when he comes in with a valuation of Wrexham is, it's beyond the pale. That's why I go, why are the Welsh Council giving them 800 million pounds to build a stadium?"
