MLB The Show 26 Reveals World Baseball Classic Cards for Diamond Dynasty
San Diego Studio

With early access for MLB The Show 26 arriving on March 13 and the full launch set for March 17, the countdown is officially on. For Diamond Dynasty grinders, that means the annual ritual is about to begin again: building lineups, chasing collections, and convincing ourselves we’ll finally stop opening packs after “just one more.” Spoiler alert — we won’t.

First Look at World Baseball Classic Cards in Diamond Dynasty

As the launch approaches, the official World Baseball Classic account offered fans a sneak peek at what’s coming to Diamond Dynasty. The preview was shared by the official World Baseball Classic account on X and revealed the first look at the new World Baseball Classic player cards arriving in MLB The Show 26.

Among the cards shown was a 90 overall item for Japan’s Munetaka Murakami. The design features the tournament branding, national flags, and the international color scheme tied to the World Baseball Classic theme.

How the World Baseball Classic Works in Diamond Dynasty

The reveal lines up with details developers shared during last week’s Diamond Dynasty feature premiere stream. One of the biggest announcements was the return of the World Baseball Classic to the mode after its appearance in MLB The Show 23, with developers noting that strong fan demand helped bring the international tournament back.

Instead of launching as a standalone mode, the WBC tournament will run through Mini Seasons. For longtime Diamond Dynasty players, the Mini Seasons format should feel familiar. Players will enter a tournament-style run that mirrors the real-life WBC structure, beginning with pool play before advancing into a knockout bracket that includes the quarterfinals and championship game.

Players will compete using their custom Diamond Dynasty lineup rather than a fixed national roster. Your squad effectively replaces one of the 20 national teams in the tournament field, and each new run allows you to substitute a different country.

Developers also confirmed that more than 133 World Baseball Classic player items will appear in Diamond Dynasty along with stadiums like Tokyo Dome and Hiram Bithorn Stadium. WBC-themed live content is expected to roll out throughout the season as well.
