Bianca Belair hasn't wrestled since WrestleMania 41. That means we're fast approaching a full year of The EST being on the sidelines. Belair has been recovering from a broken finger, an injury serious enough that it required surgery, and footage of what exactly she's been doing to try and reach a point where she's allowed to wrestle again shows fans why she has been out of action for so long.
Belair shared a look behind the scenes via her Instagram stories. She begins by showing the physical therapy she does in an attempt to fix her finger and get it functioning again. The clips show the WWE Superstar using the injured finger to roll a wooden cylinder back and forth. In the second of the two clips, you can see Belair is struggling, and potentially even pushing through pain to roll the cylinder all the way back.
A third clip shows Belair using her injured hand to try to rotate therapy balls around in her hand, after which she goes a little deeper when explaining what exactly has been going on. Back in bandages, presumably after the therapy sessions she shared, Belair shows a close-up of her hand as she bends all of her fingers apart from the injured one.
It's the message she's attached to that video which sounds worrying in regards to when we might see Belair back in the ring. "Most days after therapy, this is what happens," Belair relays. "My finger just stiffens back up. It feels like I'm constantly starting over, and every time it's painful." Belair adds that she tries to move it every hour, partly to make sure scar tissue doesn't form, which sounds like it might have been an issue earlier during her recovery, and is potentially why she's still not ready to return to the ring.
It's the comments about feeling like she keeps having to start over, and the suggestion that she isn't making much progress, that make this update a worrying one. Almost a year out with a finger injury must be incredibly frustrating, especially when this latest update suggests that Belair still doesn't know when she will be able to wrestle again.
Belair signed off by noting that she wanted to provide more insight into what's going on after being inundated with messages from concerned fans. Belair had great odds of winning this year's women's Royal Rumble match, so fears that there was more to her absence than we knew spiked after she didn't return during the 30-person match. Some fans speculated that she might be pregnant. That's not the case, and Belair is simply struggling with what she likely assumed was a minor injury in the moment.
