It’s been quite the few days for Jelly Roll. After appearing on WWE SmackDown on Friday where he got into an altercation with Logan Paul, The country music megastar joined Randy Orton’s corner for his Saturday Night’s Main Event clash with Drew McIntyre. After getting a chance to get physical with both Paul and McIntyre, Jelly Roll headed to his next engagement, a dual night of guest hosting the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on ABC. One of Jelly Roll’s first guests was Randy Orton. It was rumored that this was all meant to set up an angle in advance of Jelly Roll’s SummerSlam in-ring debut and boy was that true.

Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre Crash the Party before Crashing into Jelly Roll and Randy Orton

Jelly Roll welcomed Randy Orton to the set midway through the show where the two talked about Orton’s family legacy, his kids, his career, his favorite match (vs Mick Foley in a hardcore match at Backlash in 2004), his collection of wrestling memorabilia (including the tacks in his back from said Mick Foley match), Jelly Roll’s fandom and training being “above and beyond expectation,” and Saturday Night’s Main Event over clips of the action.

As Randy Orton was hyping up his tag team partner for SummerSlam, promising “retribution is gonna come quick and swift” he was interrupted by Drew McIntyre, who claimed his invitation must have been lost in the mail. McIntyre said the two were screwed at SummerSlam but tonight he came in peace. He praised Jelly for his weight loss journey, losing over 200 pounds, calling him “an inspiration to trailer trash all across the world.” McIntyre then joked that it must have been nice for Jelly Roll to finally see his “tootsie roll” after all these years, prompting Orton to come to his partner’s defense. Orton called McIntyre a p---- and said no one was there to see him. He pushed McIntyre to back off and as the crowd chanted “RKO” the two brawled to the back.

Jelly Roll proceeded to call for a commercial but Logan Paul arrived calling Jelly Roll a “greasy, redneck, prison rat” before smacking Jelly Roll across the face. As Paul gloated saying the show deserved a real star as the host, Jelly Roll grabbed him and chokeslammed him through the desk before promoting his upcoming match at SummerSlam.

A crossover match of this magnitude deserved a crossover angle and this one certainly delivered. Jelly Roll revealed earlier on the Pat McAfee Show that he’s been training for three to four weeks, showing up every day, all day at the Performance Center working with the likes of Matt Bloom, Kevin Owens, Jacob Fatu, Undertaker, and Michelle McCool. Triple H confirmed this, noting Jelly Roll’s love of wrestling has coupled with his commitment to lose weight so he could one day get in the ring to fulfill his dream. He’s been putting in the work and it’s said that McIntyre, Orton, and Paul are all looking forward to the opportunity to work with him in the ring.

The results are seemingly speaking for themselves especially if that Undertaker-esque chokeslam was any indication. Paul and McIntyre will certainly have their hands full when it comes to their SummerSlam showdown with Orton and Jelly.
